Golf Club Equipment

Each piece of golf club equipment has its own function on a golf course. Woods, irons and putters are specifically designed to do certain things to ball. Knowing the differences and function of each club is an essential part of a good golf game.

Drivers and fairway woods are items of golf club equipment that are designed to hit the ball long distances. The clubs are numbered, with the lower numbers indicating a longer possible distance. Drivers have the largest club heads and therefore are capable of hitting the ball the farthest.

Irons are golf club equipment designed to hit the ball from the fairway. These clubs have differently angled heads, each designed to offer a certain amount of “lift” when hitting the ball. Irons with higher numbers tend to hit the ball higher, and for shorter distances.
